The International Screen Academy (ISA) is a Sydney-based acting school that offers acting courses at a diploma and an advanced diploma level. They have a clear vision to provide the most personalized, hands-on, practical training in acting in the world and have been described as a creative hub for actors and musical theatre performers.
Before using the TVS-673e, the ISA didn’t have enough storage space for their digital media files. As their students are trained both in film acting and stage performing, all their assessments must be recorded so that they can examine the students’ progress at any time. It is also required to securely store all of their recordings for several years to meet auditing requirements. Faced with these challenges, the ISA realized they needed a reliable, expandable, and easily-accessible storage solution.
To solve these challenges, the ISA chose to adopt two QNAP TVS-673e. Both NAS are installed with a QNAP dual-port 10GbE network card (LAN-10G2T-X550), allowing for high-speed uploading of their class recordings from any computer. They can also easily manage and share previously-uploaded files from the File Station.
With six drive bays, the TVS-673e provides high-capacity storage potential for storing ISA’s class recordings. The storage space can also be expanded to fit future storage needs by using a QNAP expansion enclosure.
With needing to retain their students’ recordings for a long period of time to meet auditing requirements, the ISA use Snapshots on the TVS-673e to fully record their data and system status. If files are lost or accidentally modified, their content can be easily reverted to a snapshot's recorded status.
The ISA can preview their documents, play their digital media files and easily share them from the File Station. The TVS-673e also features real-time 4K and 1080p video transcoding that can convert videos to universal formats so that ISA personnel can access and playback the videos from PCs or mobile devices.
After integrating the TVS-673e, the ISA staff quickly got familiar with how to back up their data and files from their computers to the NAS. Their administration productivity has increased by 80% while their maintenance effort has reduced by 50%. “The QNAP TVS-673e has been an invaluable resource for our storage needs.
